The Neptune Statue

Proudly welcoming local residents and visitors alike, a 34-foot, cast bronze Neptune statue stands at the gateway to Neptune Park and the threshold of the sea. Surrounded by the creatures of his realm, mighty trident in hand, Neptune’s gaze rests affectionately on the shore. His heroic visage honors the maritime legacy of Virginia Beach while also standing as a vivid reminder of the community’s duty to respect and protect our natural blessings.

Constructed entirely through the generosity of private contributions gathered by the Neptune Festival, this statue is dedicated to the city of Virginia Beach and its citizens. The statue was dedicated to the City of Virginia Beach on September 30, 2005, during the Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend; it now graces the boardwalk at 31st street, overlooking Neptune’s Park.

The Neptune Legend

The legend of Neptune says that this Roman god was King of the Sea. Carrying his trident, a three-pronged spear, Neptune would drive in his dolphin-pulled chariot over the waters, calming the waters wherever he went. Since the beginning of the Neptune Festival, people from the Virginia Beach community have been chosen to play the part of King Neptune and his Royal Court. Joining King Neptune are Tritons, men of the community, who are also selected by nomination and an understanding of the spirit of the Neptune Festival.

Core Assurance Partners President and Founder, Doug Russell, serves as a 2019 Neptune Festival Triton.

Beyond the Boardwalk

The Neptune Festival of Virginia Beach is a private, non-profit organization that produces over 40 events in Virginia Beach each year. From free concerts and seaside wine tastings to athletic events and a 32-block long celebration on the boardwalk.

The Neptune Festival goes beyond the boardwalk to give back to the City of Virginia Beach. In addition to producing events, the Neptune Festival provides exposure and fundraising opportunities for nonprofit, civic, and charitable organizations. Each year, nonprofit organizations collectively earn over $100,000 from their involvement with the Festival. Not only are they sharing funds, but organizations given space on the boardwalk have much to gain – animals adopted, donations received, and awareness raised!

Core Assurance Partners is proud to support the Neptune festival of Virginia Beach. We hope you will join us at one of this year’s many events.
